At Elm Street church of Christ, we embark on a journey defined by a simple yet profound commitment: to be simply Christians as we find the very first disciples were called such in Acts 11:26 , to love God, to serve God, and to extend a helping hand to all seeking eternal life. Our story is woven with threads of faith, love, and a shared dedication to living according to the teachings of Christ.
Our Foundation: Following the Path of Christ
Established on the pattern and principles outlined in the New Testament, we are a community of believers who strive to emulate the life of Christ. His life and teachings serve as our guide, shaping our actions, attitudes, and interactions. In a world that often seems complex, we find simplicity and purpose in following the example set forth by Jesus and the teachings contained in the Apostles’ Doctrine. The church today following that pattern seeks to be those parts fitted together to be the holy temple of the Lord as Paul describes in Eph 2:20-22.
Love in Action: Serving God and Others
Central to our mission is the embodiment of love through service. We believe that love is an action, a force that compels us not only to worship but also to serve God and those around us. Our efforts in evangelism are driven by a sincere desire to be a blessing in the lives of those we encounter, reflecting the love that God has graciously shown us, and demonstrating in our lives that God desires all men everywhere to repent and submit to His Son and our Savior Jesus the Christ (Acts 17:30-31; 2 Peter 3:9-11).

As a congregation, we are more than individuals who gather for worship; we are a spiritual family. In Christ, we have become members of the household of faith. Our community then must by necessity extend beyond the walls of a church building, creating a supportive community where each member is valued, accepted, and encouraged in their pilgrim’s journey. Together, we celebrate joys, endure challenges, and grow in the shared experience of seeking God’s will. In this light, we seek to grow each member to maturity and the bearing of fruit in the Lord.
Our Central Theme: Eternal Life
Our ultimate aim is to build up the members of the local church so that we might each run the race of this life with endurance (Heb 12:1-3) and a focus on the Crown of Life (Rev 2:10). We believe in the transformative power of God’s Word in action as it is applied to our hearts and in our lives. We have received a supreme gift in God’s mercy and grace expressed through His love and the salvation offered through faith in Jesus Christ which compels our obedience to His word and will. Through our worship, teaching, and ministry efforts, we seek to share the message of hope and redemption that leads lost souls to everlasting life.
